Media Center Procedures

Philosophy

It is the goal of the media program to support and provide free and open access to all information resources to the GMS community.  The media center provides a learning environment, which promotes inquiry, creativity, self-direction, and communication of ideas through both print and non-print media.

Location and Hours

The media center is located in building 1 of the GMS campus.  Students are welcome in the media center before school beginning at 8:50am through the end of the school day.  Our online catalog is always available via the Destiny tile under Classroom Resources in Classlink, and eBooks and audiobooks can be checked out and read directly from our catalog.

Circulation Policies

Students are allowed to check out 10 books for a period of 3 weeks.  Students who need more time with their book may renew them up to 2 times.  Reference materials are for use in the media center only and cannot be checked out by students.

Students are responsible for materials they check out and will be charged for lost or damaged books.  While students are not charged overdue fees, they are expected to return materials on or before due dates.  Students with overdue materials and/or fines will be notified periodically, and they are able to check the status of their library account via Destiny.

While students will be able to continue checking out books, students with fines and/or lost books may not be eligible to participate in extracurricular events.

Library Account Access

Students can view our online catalog, renew books, view check out history, and check out eBooks digitally.

To access your library account from the computer, visit the Destiny tile under Classroom Resources in Classlink.
