Mr. Smallridge was born and raised in Ocala, Florida.  He holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Central Florida.  He last taught Algebra 2 and Geometry at Belleview High School in Marion County in 2002.

His first administrative position was at Carver Middle School where he served as an Assistant Principal II for 2.5 years.  He was promoted to Assistant Principal I in 2004 and continued that position throughout the 2012-2013 school year. He was then transferred to Gray Middle for the 2013-2014 school year.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children.  He is the stepfather to a 28 year old son Devin and a 23 year old daughter Erin.  He is the father of an 13 year old son Riley. He enjoys spending time at Lake Weir riding wave runners with his family and watching Riley play soccer.

Mr. Smallridge is excited to be a part of the administrative team at Gray Middle and believes in the commitment that has been made by the faculty and staff to move students into tomorrow's world successfully.

 

Ed Stuart

Mr. Stuart began his career as a middle school ELA and Social Studies teacher in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2010, where he worked at a rehabilitative treatment facility under the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. After three years working for the School District of Philadelphia, he transitioned to a private school working with students whose mindset did not fit the typical school mold in Langhorne, Pennsylvania as a high school ELA teacher.  

In 2015, he relocated to Central Florida to work as a United States History teacher at Mount Dora Middle School within Lake County Schools.  Before transitioning into administration, has served as a Social Studies teacher, Literacy Coach, Testing Coordinator, Team Lead, New Teacher Support, RTI/MTSS, and Leadership Team Member, and Program Specialist for Region 1 schools.   

Mr. Stuart's formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and minor in History from Pennsylvania State University.  He has Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision from National Louis University.  Mr. Stuart is happily married to his wife.  Together they have two sons.

Michelle Sorrells
8th Grade Administrator

Mrs. Michelle Sorrells is a 5th generation Floridian. She is a graduate from the University of Florida in 2000 where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She achieved National Board Certification in Early Childhood Education in 2004.  She also graduated from the American College of Education in 2020 with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Michelle has been in the education field since 2000 and has experience in both elementary and middle school settings. She has taught at Interlachen Elementary, Dabney Elementary, Groveland Elementary, Family Christian Center School, Gray Middle School, Windy Hill Middle School, East Ridge Middle School, and Instructional Coach at Clermont Elementary. Over the course of her career, she has served in a variety of additional leadership roles. Mrs. Sorrells is passionate about providing a positive school environment while supporting teachers, students, parents, and staff. She is excited about working at Gray Middle. Go Gators!
